Not long ago
I let you into My world with open arms
and gave you all
I had to give -
So willingly you entered
But you gave little in return -
It's all a lifetime ago
So it seems .
Did you ever truly care ??
Did you ever truly need
what I gave you ??
Said, " I love you " time and time again
with a gleam in your eyes,
Was it more than a thin disguise ??
Do you ever wake in the night
and remember me to feel the blame ??
How could you ??
You will Never know
what you left behind
When you turned & walked away from it all
that solitary day .
Like a candle in the wind
an eternal flame violently went out.
Your blatant lies still echoing loudly
within this broken dream of mine .
How could you ??
Still seeing your face
everywhere I go,
A part of me
forever gone
To never return again .
How long had you known
away from me you wanted to go ??
Did you believe holding on so long
would really lessen the final blow ??
It once was full of lighting - fast Magic
then it all came tumbling down
ever so tragic.
How could you ??
Sorry, I could not give you
more,
Gave all I could give,
Never enough to satisfy
your burning desire .
Should it have ended
long before it began ??
To you, I aimlessly ran.
Should have seen
the warning signs
But believing in endless love
can make one very blind.
Eyes wide open now
I see you for what
you truly are ;
The elusive, loveless type
who confuses lust for love
and pain as joy
A thief in the night
taking all you could.
Selfish & arrogant ~
A troubled soul
Unable to feel
the truest of pain .
This one question I ask of you ~
How Could You ??
How Could You !?!?
Within my world
you were never meant to belong,
So be on your way
And leave me with nothing
except the memories & undying pain.
I will go on ...
only more cautious the next time
A new day dawns
on the bleak horizon up ahead .
And If our paths shall ever meet again
know I am a Survivor
& have gotten beyond the times
spent with you ~
No longer looking back
and moving onward now.
Will you ever know
the meaning of love ??
Will you ever find
another heart so true ??
I, hereby, bid you farewell
and turn to walk away
Towards the new day's light ...
Remembering ~ it was all a lifetime ago
as the tears fade & dry away ...
